How much does an AI receptionist cost per month?

Published entry prices for the 12 AI receptionists we track run from $0/mo to $449/mo, but the entry price says little about your bill. What you pay depends on how the vendor bills (minutes, calls, callers or flat rate), how many calls you get, and what happens when you go over.

The four ways AI receptionists bill

Minute bundles
A monthly allowance of talk time, then a per-minute overage. Long calls eat the allowance. Examples: Rosie, Dialzara, My AI Front Desk, Sameday.
Per call or conversation
A monthly number of calls, then a per-call fee. Call length doesn't matter, but every short call counts (most exclude spam). Examples: Smith.ai, Upfirst, Jobber Receptionist.
Per unique caller
Goodcall counts each phone number once a month, so repeat callers don't add cost.
Flat or metered
NextPhone is a flat monthly price with unlimited calls. Dial Milo is pure pay-as-you-go: a $3/mo number plus per-minute talk time from a prepaid balance.

Costs that aren't in the headline price

  • Overage you can't price. Sameday AI don't publish an overage rate.
  • Booking on higher plans only. Rosie's $49 Professional plan sends booking links; direct calendar booking starts on Scale ($149). Dialzara's Business Lite has no calendar sync.
  • Platform subscriptions. Jobber Receptionist and Housecall Pro CSR AI require those platforms. ServiceTitan's AI Voice Agent needs ServiceTitan's phone system and bills on usage at an unpublished rate.
  • Phone numbers and SMS. Goodcall, Upfirst and Smith.ai say a number is included; Dial Milo charges $3/mo and Dialzara's FAQ lists $3/mo for local numbers.
